Flower Care Instructions — How to Keep Your Flowers Fresher for Longer
Κοινή χρήση
Why Do Flowers Wilt Quickly?
Cut flowers have a natural lifespan, but with proper care, you can significantly extend it. At FlowersAthens.gr, we always deliver fresh flowers — and we want you to enjoy them for as long as possible.
Basic Care Instructions
1. Cut Stems Correctly
Once you receive your flowers, cut 2-3 centimeters from the base of each stem diagonally (45°) with a sharp knife or scissors. This increases the surface area for water absorption. Repeat every 2-3 days.
2. Change Water Regularly
Change the water every 2 days. Use cool, clean water. Clean the vase each time to prevent bacteria that accelerate wilting.
3. Remove Leaves Below Water Level
Ensure that no leaves are submerged in the water. Leaves decaying in water produce bacteria that harm the flowers.
4. Proper Placement
- ❌ Away from direct sunlight
- ❌ Away from radiators, air conditioners, and heat sources
- ❌ Away from fruits (they emit ethylene which accelerates wilting)
- ✅ In a cool, well-ventilated area
- ✅ Away from drafts
5. Use the Flower Food Packet
If your bouquet comes with a flower food packet, add it to the water. It contains sugars for nourishment, bactericides, and pH regulators.
